In the heart of suburban America, two contrasting families, the Hubbards and the Buells, find their lives inextricably intertwined, thanks to an unexpected twist of marital fate. Herb Hubbard, a high-achieving lawyer, and his wife, Eve, a former athletic champion, embody the essence of an ambitious and disciplined lifestyle. In stark contrast, their neighbors, Roger Buell, a creative television writer, and his wife Kaye, a laid-back and somewhat lazy housekeeper, embrace a more relaxed, chaotic existence. Their comfortable albeit distinctly different lives take a sudden turn when Jerry, the Buells' unconventional son, falls in love with and marries Susie, the poised and disciplined daughter of the Hubbards.
