Alison and Noah couldn't be any more different, but a fleeting indiscretion on their part threatens to tear apart both of their lives thoroughly. Noah's been married for two decades and has raised four children in that time, while Alison is a young wife trying to come to terms with a recent tragedy in her life. Each of them is desperately grasping for something they can't quite understand when they start their tempestuous relationship — and while it doesn't provide them with what they need, it does offer them a recurring temptation that both Alison and Noah find impossible to resist even as their lives fall apart.
