Strangers (2018)

In the heartrending saga of "Strangers", we're plunged into the life of Jonah Mulray, a dedicated professor who is suddenly uprooted by a shattering international phone call. His wife Megan, who had made her home in the vibrant cityscape of Hong Kong for the past six months, tragically dies in a car accident along the picturesque mountain roads of Tai Po. Jonah, held captive by a crippling fear of flying, had never journeyed to this foreign land that his wife had embraced. Now, propelled by grief and a gnawing need for answers, he finds himself boarding a plane to the unfamiliar city where his beloved wife drew her last breath. Upon arrival, Jonah is met by Sally Porter from the British Consulate. Together, they traverse the somber halls of a mortuary where the undeniable reality of his wife's demise punches through the fog of his shock. He’s then drawn into a frustratingly opaque investigation led by Hong Kong detectives Daniel Tsang, Felix Chang, and Wilfred Chow. Despite their seemingly routine inquiries, Jonah senses an undercurrent of something unsaid, something more than just a tragic accident. His suspicions are stoked when he discovers an emotional voicemail from Megan, recorded only seconds before her death. As he navigates the alien city and peels back the layers of his wife's life, Jonah stumbles upon shocking revelations that pull him into a web of conspiracy. Struggling between grief, confusion, and a growing sense of urgency, Jonah's sheltered existence is shattered, replaced by a compelling quest for truth in an unfamiliar world.
