Plot

In a world of banality and deceit, Sick Note introduces us to Daniel Glass, portrayed by Rupert Grint. He's a hapless compulsive liar caught in the drudgery of an unfulfilling job under the relentless supervision of his domineering boss, Kenny West, and a strained relationship that is falling apart. When fate deals him an unexpected hand, diagnosing him with esophageal cancer, his life takes an unforeseen turn. Suddenly, he's the recipient of sympathy, warmth, and kindness, awakening a newfound zest for life within him. However, this seemingly tragic twist of fate is abruptly upended by the most inept oncologist on the planet, Dr. Ian Glennis, played by Nick Frost. A shocking misdiagnosis thrusts Daniel into a moral quandary: Should he shatter this compassionate illusion and return to his dismal existence, or should he maintain the pretense of terminal illness, continuing to bask in the unaccustomed glow of empathy and affection? Choosing the path of deception, he opts to keep the truth under wraps, launching him and Dr. Glennis into a tumultuous whirlwind of spiraling lies. Suddenly, they find themselves living on borrowed time, desperately trying to prevent their deceitful bubble from bursting. As the stakes rise, their simple lie evolves into a convoluted web of deception, leading to actions that cross the line into criminal territory. Sick Note is a rollercoaster of lies and unexpected turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat, questioning the lengths one would go to escape from the mundanity of life and experience the exhilarating thrill of being the center of attention, if only under false pretenses.
