American Vandal (2017)

This spoof of self-serious true crime documentaries focuses on a crime far more silly than the gruesome murders of the shows it's lampooning. An act of vandalism on a high school campus leaves 27 faculty cars covered in inappropriate graffiti. Sophomore Peter Maldanaldo sees this as an opportunity to prove himself as a documentary, and so he decides to investigate what happened through interviews with faculty, students, and other bystanders. While he meets with many eccentric personalities along the way, the majority of his attention focuses on a senior who is being treated as if he committed the crime despite the presence of little evidence.
