Plot

In a daring quest to master an unpredictably unstable nuclear-powered rocket engine, the brilliant Professor Quatermass encounters an unexpected setback during a catastrophic test firing in Australia. His life takes a mysterious turn when his future son-in-law, Captain John Dillon, brings to his attention a peculiar hollow meteorite, which had disrupted a routine Army Training operation. Intrigued, Quatermass and Dillon delve into the enigma, stumbling upon an enormous government facility tethered to the unsettling meteorites. However, their investigation spirals into danger when Dillon suffers exposure to the toxic gas held within the meteorites, and he is swiftly apprehended by the plant's enigmatic security forces. As Quatermass digs deeper, he confronts an old civil service friend, desperate for answers. He uncovers a chilling lie - the plant, claimed to be a synthetic food production facility, is manufacturing something far more sinister. Quatermass and his friend must unravel the truth, confronting the horrifying reality that the true output of the plant holds the potential to pose a threat to the very existence of the world.
