Plot

In the aftermath of the Brexit referendum, a young European parliamentary assistant named Samy is thrust into the political whirlwind of Brussels. Ill-prepared and novice, Samy's understanding of the European institutions is as murky as a foggy morning. Relying solely on his quick-witted charm and cunning intellect, Samy strives to navigate the labyrinth of his new job. His naivety is soon uprooted as he is assigned an unglamorous task: to pen a report on finning, the gruesome practice of severing fins from sharks and discarding the rest. The challenge ahead is daunting, as Samy's knowledge about pushing a report through the complex machinery of the European Parliament is virtually non-existent. With a ticking clock of six months, Samy must decipher the enigmatic workings of the Parliament. Shadows of powerful entities loom over him, their apathy towards the cause as chilling as the indifference of an ice-capped sea. Sharks, after all, lack the public affection showered on their marine counterparts, the dolphins. Thus, Samy embarks on a roller-coaster journey, a blend of struggle and sacrifice, where comedy meets psychodrama at every turn. For the first time, Samy is challenged not only to do his best but to fulfil his duty. By the close of the first season of The Parliament, Samy, an unlikely hero, will have nudged the world towards change. Although minuscule, this change stands as a testament to Samy's determination, setting him apart from his peers.
