Laakhon Mein Ek (2017)

In the deeply contrasted worlds of Laakhon Mein Ek, we follow the lives of two protagonists, Aakash and Dr. Shreya, who are thrown into circumstances that challenge their very identities. Aakash, a young lad recently out of high school, aspires to study commerce with his friends in the familiar comfort of Raipur. His dreams, however, are abruptly interrupted when his father whisks him away to Genius Infinity, a rigorous IIT coaching institute miles away from home. Aakash is plunged into a world where joy is replaced by textbooks, and competitions trump camaraderie. He feels like an alien, struggling to keep up with the academic prowess of his peers. As he gradually navigates through this challenging environment, he forges a unique bond with his roommates, Bakri and Chudail, and finds a rival in Chandrakanth, the institute's top student. Parallelly, we meet Dr. Shreya, a dedicated medic assigned to conduct a cataract camp in the remote village of Sitlapur. Her zeal is met with a series of obstacles as she clashes with an unyielding system. Despite her tireless efforts to bring about change, she is constantly pushed back by the entrenched bureaucracy. As she wrestles with these challenges, she is left questioning whether she can reshape the system or if the system will eventually reshape her. Laakhon Mein Ek is a compelling narrative of resilience and determination, where its characters are persistently tested, compelling them to question their ideals, adapt, and find their place amidst adversity.
