KOKKOKU (2018)

Juri Yukawa's aspirations of escaping her family's crowded home shatter after a disheartening string of 19 unsuccessful job interviews in a single day. She finds herself trapped in a chaotic household, made up of her industrious mother Nobuko, unemployed brother Tsubasa, jobless father Takafumi, and single-mother sister Sanae, with the family's only ray of hope being her innocent young cousin Makoto. The family's barely-balanced life veers dramatically off course when a sinister shadow organization violently abducts Makoto and Tsubasa, demanding a lofty ransom of five million yen within a mere 30 minutes. As the sands of time slip away, Juri and Takafumi are pulled into an enigmatic whirlwind, when her grandfather unveils a potent family secret that could tip the scales in their favor.
