Plot

In the dimly lit and smoky corners of London's underbelly, Daniel Feeld, a hard-drinking, chain-smoking television scriptwriter, is wrestling not only with the final touches of his latest drama, "Karaoke," but also with the relentless pain of pancreatic cancer. Despite his deteriorating health, Feeld remains obsessively embroiled in the post-production process, his life increasingly blurring with the stark realities of his script. "Karaoke" is a gritty tale of Sandra Sollars, a young hostess working in a seedy karaoke bar owned by a small-time gangster known as Arthur "Pig" Maillion. As Feeld navigates the labyrinth of his daily life, he begins to stumble upon peculiar coincidences. Everyday encounters and overheard conversations eerily echo his own penned dialogue and the plot of his television drama begins to bleed into his reality. Feeld's world spirals further out of control when he crosses paths with a real-life Sandra, a captivating young woman with an uncanny resemblance to his fictional character, working in a karaoke bar run by a man eerily similar to "Pig" Maillion. Plagued by an unsettling fear for Sandra's safety, Feeld finds himself caught in a disorienting crossfire of life imitating art. Meanwhile, the director of "Karaoke," Balmer, finds himself tangled in his own drama off-set, wrestling with a tempestuous leading lady. As the line between Feeld's script and reality blurs, a complex tapestry of memory, fantasy, and stark reality is woven, leaving Feeld, and the viewer, questioning the nature of life, fiction, and the power of the written word.
