Iffet (2011)

In the heart of Istanbul's older, humbler quarters, reside the beautiful young Iffet, her father, and younger sister. Amidst the antiquated charm of her surroundings, Iffet is consumed by a profound love for Cemil, the local taxi station's charismatic driver. She yearns for the day he will ask for her hand in marriage, oblivious to the fact that Cemil harbors grander ambitions. He dreams of a life drenched in wealth, far from the mundanity of his middle-class neighborhood. As Iffet surreptitiously continues her relationship with the elusive Cemil, he begins pressuring her into intimacy before marriage. In a fateful twist, during the wedding of Iffet's closest confidante, Serpil, a drunken Cemil spirals out of control, ultimately violating Iffet's trust in the most horrific way. Begging for her forgiveness, Cemil proposes marriage, kindling a flicker of hope in Iffet that their life may eventually fall back into place. Yet, destiny has other plans. Left with nothing but shattered dreams by the man she cherishes, vengeance becomes Iffet's sole objective. A tempestuous journey commences, where she must grapple with the burning question - will her thirst for retribution eclipse her love for Cemil?
