Plot

In the heart of a small town, a tale unfurls around Fatmagul (Beren), a young woman of ethereal beauty, innocence, and dreams of a simple life. Engaged to her childhood love, Mustafa, she envisions a future filled with marital bliss until one fateful night shatters her world. Caught in a whirlwind of misguided revelry, three young men, fueled by alcohol and drugs, seize her freedom, transforming a harmless joke into a horrendous act of violation. Kerim (Engin), a friend of the culprits, stands witness to this atrocity, his silence amplifying his guilt. As dawn breaks, Fatmagul's life is irrevocably marred, not only physically but emotionally, her dreams disintegrating into mere fragments of what they once were. Mustafa, the love of her life, succumbs to societal pressure, severing their engagement and leaving her stranded in a sea of despair. The catastrophe doesn't end there, as the rich families of the perpetrators force Fatmagul into a marriage of convenience with Kerim, the silent bystander of her trauma, to salvage her family's honor. Uprooted from their hometown, Fatmagul and Kerim are thrust into the hustle and bustle of Istanbul, their lives intertwined in a complex web of pain, betrayal, and unintended love. Mustafa, unable to forget Fatmagul, also finds his way to the metropolis, driven by a thirst for revenge. As the narrative unfolds, Kerim, stricken with remorse, develops a deep affection for Fatmagul. He becomes her pillar of support, standing by her side in a relentless battle against their oppressors. "Fatmagul Sucu Ne" (What is Fatmagul's Fault?), based on a novel, is a poignant saga that explores the depths of human resilience, the power of love, and the fight for justice amidst the darkest of times. It challenges societal norms and embarks on a journey of healing and redemption, painting a compelling portrait of life after trauma.
