Plot

In the turbulent 1930s, the life of the gentle and soft-spoken teenager, Judith Dunbar, is upended when her family moves to colonial Singapore. Left in the care of her stern aunt and boarding school, Judith finds solace in the unlikely friendship with the vivacious Loveday Carey-Lewis. After a tragic twist of fate, Judith is embraced by the Carey-Lewis family, welcomed into their lavish Cornish estate, Nancherrow, and eventually becomes entangled in a delicate love triangle with Loveday's charismatic older brother, Edward. As the world plunges into the chaos of World War II, Judith's life becomes a tapestry of triumph and tragedy. She navigates through the storm of the war, enduring personal losses, including the death of Edward and her beloved aunt Lavinia. Amid the heartache, a flicker of hope sparks as a new romance blossoms, only to be shrouded in sorrow once again. Simultaneously, Loveday is caught in the throes of a complex dilemma. Torn between her fiancé Gus, who she deeply loves, and her dutiful husband Walter, the father of her son Nathaniel, Loveday must make a decision that will irrevocably shape her future. The end of the war brings with it a bittersweet symphony of emotions as the return of POWs offers both joyful reunions and painful revelations. Through the lens of love, loss, and resilience, "Coming Home" captures the poignant tale of two women navigating through life's tempestuous waves in a world turned upside down by war.
