The meltdown of the Chernbobyl nuclear power plant near Pripyat in 1986 was one of the worst man-made catastrophes in history, and the story of how the disaster happened in the first place is harrowing in its own right. But the situation could have been a lot worse. This series chronicles the initial series of events that led to the failure at the Chernobyl plant, but it also explores the actions of brave men and women who refused to let the real story get covered up and fought to make sure this type of accident never managed to happen again.
