Plot

In the vibrant yet crime-infested city of Cape Town, once revered Police Captain Mat Joubert is living in the shadow of his former glory. A year prior, his life was shattered when his wife Lara, an undercover cop, was brutally murdered. Since Lara's death, Mat has become a chain-smoking shell of his former self, his once razor-sharp focus clouded by guilt and uncertainty about his role in her demise. However, a new mandate from his uncompromising colonel threatens to shake him from his despair. The colonel demands a complete physical and mental revival of his police force, pushing Mat into a rigorous regime of exercise, psychotherapy, and dietary adjustments. Joubert is given a six-month ultimatum - get back in shape or say goodbye to his badge. As Mat grapples with his personal challenges, he is partnered with Sanctus Snook, a slick ex-elite cop who once worked alongside Lara. Mat is instantly suspicious of the uncanny pairing and distrusts his new partner. Their professional relationship is put to the test when they are thrust into a high-profile murder investigation. The victim, a successful businessman, is found bizarrely wearing an Albert Einstein mask, marking the start of a chilling serial killer case. As more bodies appear, each adorned with a different mask and eerily reminiscent of beautiful Eastern European models, Mat and Sanctus are plunged into a race against time. As Mat desperately tries to solve the perplexing case, he is forced to confront the haunting specters of his past. He soon realizes that to halt the current wave of violence, he must face the harrowing nightmare of his wife's murder once again.
