Cable Girls (2017)

There was a time when all phone transfers had to be handled manually by operators — and the arrival of these jobs allowed young women a level of financial independence that they were never before had. It's 1928, and a new telecommunications company in Madrid has hired four new women to serve as their switchboard operators. Each has a reason for seeking out a life outside of the ordinary role of the housewife, but their backgrounds couldn't be any more different. But despite the fact that they're presented with new opportunities, all of these women will have to confront the prejudices and institutional misogyny of the time.
