Borgen (2010)

Through a series of complicated maneuverings among the political parties of the Danish government, Birgitte Nyborge becomes the first-ever female Prime Minister of Denmark. In addition to the controversy of a woman leading the nation, Nyborge will enter into the pitched fray of political battles that characterize the governing process of this small but important European nation. Nyborge must balance her high office with a tumultuous personal life that includes divorce and then coping as a single mother. Nyborge navigates an often-unfriendly press corps, internal political enemies and troublesome foreign adversaries as she strives to do what's best for Denmark.
