Plot

After a life-altering divorce, Bénédicte Marceau, known as Ben, leaves the glittering chaos of Paris to return to her hometown of Nantes. She is accompanied by her daughter Rose, her beacon of hope amidst a tumultuous past. However, Nantes is not just a town of tranquility but a time capsule of painful memories. Aged just sixteen, Ben was forced by her Jehovah's Witness parents to surrender her newborn son, a decision that coerced her into a premature departure from Nantes. This long-hidden secret, the existence of her son, is a wound that time has failed to heal. In Nantes, Ben seeks not only a fresh start but also a path to redemption. Her profession as a reporter offers her a semblance of control. Covering criminal cases, she refuses to merely echo official statements, preferring instead to dig deeper, to question more, even if that means bending the law or challenging procedural norms. Her tenacious spirit is her strength and her curse, leading her into a contentious relationship with the local police captain, Laurent Wagner. Reuniting with childhood friends and building a life with Rose, Ben embarks on a journey of self-discovery and healing in Nantes. But her past is a specter that looms large, threatening to shatter her newfound peace. Ben is a tale of resilience, of a woman grappling with her past while trying to forge a future, one investigation at a time.
