Plot

In the feverish heat of Tokyo summer, acclaimed Japanese director Takashi Miike unfurls a wild narrative of underworld chaos in "Yakuza: Like a Dragon," a cinematic adaptation of the beloved Playstation 2 game. The plot interweaves the lives of Goro Kishitani and Kazuki Kitamura, who depict the volatile yakuza Goro Majima and rival gang boss Kazuma Kiryu, respectively. The narrative kicks off when two undercover detectives grumble about their malfunctioning air conditioner while observing a high-profile bank heist. The tension skyrockets when the armed robbers discover the Tojo clan's ten-million-yen deposit has inexplicably disappeared, turning an already complex situation into a veritable powder keg. Simultaneously, in a different corner of the city, the unhinged Majima breaks away from his gang to hunt down Haruka's missing mother, who allegedly holds crucial information. His journey takes him through the pulsating neon jungle of Tokyo, a city echoing his own insatiable hunger for answers. Meanwhile, Satoru (portrayed by Shun Shioya) and his lover, Yui (played by Saeko), add fuel to the fire by embarking on a daring string of thefts. As the narrative threads intertwine, a South Korean assassin, Park (Yoo Gong), is deployed to hunt down the culprits who purloined the Toho gang's money. As Majima and Kiryu engage in a city-wide power struggle, a showdown looms high above the city in Tokyo's Millennium Tower. The climax is a revelation of the true puppeteer behind the chaos, stepping forth from the obscurity of shadows into the glaring neon lights of Tokyo.
