Yaaradi Nee Mohini (2008)

In the bustling city of Chennai, Vasu, an unemployed youth, grapples with the harsh realities of life. His attempts to secure a job are consistently thwarted by his limited language skills and insufficient educational qualifications. While his friends ascend the ladder of success, Vasu finds solace in the company of his two loyal comrades, Cheenu and Ganesh. His father, a stern teacher, often berates him for his irresponsibility, adding to his growing list of miseries. Amidst this turmoil, Vasu's life takes a hopeful turn when he lays eyes on the fiery Keerthi, a software professional. He falls for her at first sight, and fortuitously lands a job at her firm. However, his dreams are shattered in the sprawling landscapes of Australia when he confesses his love to her, only to be rejected due to her prearranged marriage within her orthodox family. Back in India, a heartbroken Vasu finds his world further crumbling when his father dies following a heated encounter with Keerthi. In an effort to uplift Vasu's spirits, Cheenu convinces him to visit his family's country home where they unexpectedly encounter Keerthi - who is revealed as Cheenu's fiancée. Tension escalates when Cheenu and Keerthi leave the house in search of their own identity, causing distress to their traditional grandfather. Eventually, the families decide to expedite their marriage to pacify the elderly patriarch. However, fate twists again when Keerthi realizes her love for Vasu. Despite his love for Keerthi, Vasu decides to sacrifice his feelings to maintain peace within the family. But the truth unravels during the wedding ceremony when Cheenu exposes their secret. As a result, Vasu is ousted from the home, accompanied only by the sympathetic grandmother who sees in Vasu a reflection of his late father. As time passes, the rest of the family, barring the still resentful grandfather, comes to stay with Vasu. The film concludes on a hopeful note with Vasu and Keerthi finding happiness together, hinting at the possibility of acceptance and change within their close-knit community.
