Plot

In the heart of the 1940s, the courageous and audacious Villas Boas brothers - Orlando, Claudius, and Leonardo - elect to exchange the familiar for the unexplored. Driven by a thirst for adventure, they pledge their allegiance to the Roncador-Xingu Expedition, a daring mission aimed at taming the wild heart of Central Brazil. Their journey unravels an extraordinary saga, as they navigate more than 1,000 miles of untouched rivers, carve out 19 airfields for military aircraft, and lay the foundations for 43 burgeoning towns. Their expedition brings them face to face with the Xavante, a brave and feared tribe of warriors, as they establish contact with 14 indigenous tribes, previously shrouded in mystery. As they traverse 1,500 kilometers of unchartered routes, their path is fraught with challenge, but devoid of casualties, a testament to their tact and respect towards the native inhabitants. Inspired by their real-life exploits, Xingu vividly explores the creation of the Xingu National Park under the stewardship of the Villas Boas brothers. This monumental reserve, the first significant Amerindian reservation in Brazil and comparable in size to Belgium, stands as a testament to their indomitable spirit. Directed by the acclaimed Hamburger, the film poignantly delves into the brothers' interaction with the Kaiabi Indians, providing an intimate glimpse into the birth of one of the world's largest Indian reservations. Brought to you by the producers of CITY OF GOD, Xingu is an enthralling tale of courage, determination, and a profound respect for cultural diversity, transforming the Villas Boas brothers into true contemporary heroes.
