Bound by the ties of childhood friendship, four boys grow up sharing dreams and laughter, their bond seemingly unbreakable. The sudden and untimely demise of Billy Newwood, however, reunites the remaining trio in a somber reunion. As they reminiscence their past, Tom Marshall, an unabashed hedonist with a penchant for mischief, persuades the eternally business-minded Jerry Conlaine and the phobia-ridden dentist Dan Mott, to resurrect an old blood oath. It's a promise steeped in adventure and mystery, a journey they never had the chance to embark upon as children. Among their shared keepsakes, they find a trunk, a time capsule that unveils a quest their late friend had been pursuing. Billy had been on the trail of the infamous D.B. Cooper's hidden treasure - a cool $200,000 that had disappeared with the notorious airplane hijacker in 1971. Ignited by a sense of nostalgia and a thirst for adventure, the trio decides to continue Billy's unfinished journey, setting off on an expedition down the Columbia River by canoe, unaware of the perils they are about to face. The ensuing journey becomes a fusion of belated adolescence and an early midlife crisis, fraught with challenges they hadn't anticipated. From a menacing grizzly bear to a hidden marijuana farming gang, the natural elements to their own personal frustrations, their journey becomes more of an adventure than they ever bargained for. The plot of Without a Paddle unfurls into a tale of friendship, adventure, and self-realization, as the friends navigate the turbulent waters of their past and the literal rapids of their present, striving to uncover the lost treasure and, in the process, rediscovering their bond.
