Dantes is sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment on the island of Chateau d'If. While he's been convicted of treason, the accusations are untrue. Dantes has been betrayed by his best friend Fernand to steal away Dantes' lover Mercedes. Dantes' vengeance can't wait, and his plans for revenge rapidly turn to plans for escape.
