Plot

Set against the backdrop of Berlin's tumultuous history, "What to Do in Case of Fire?" weaves a compelling tale of six former anarchistic renegades. Once united by audacious ideals and a shared squat in the heart of Berlin during the city's 80s heyday, these young activists planted a handcrafted bomb in a mansion, their youthful rebellion untouched by the consequences of their actions. Fast forward to the year 2000, the city of Berlin, now Germany's capital, is a vastly different landscape. The group has disbanded, their paths diverging drastically. Tim and Hotte remain, their spirits unbroken, continuing the fight they began as naive anarchists, while the rest have found themselves in radically different lives. Maik thrives in the corporate jungle of an advertisement agency, Terror navigates the legal system as a lawyer, Nele embraces motherhood, and Flo lives a life shrouded in wealth and mystery. Their shared history rushes back to the forefront when the bomb, dormant for thirteen years, suddenly detonates, injuring two people and drawing the attention of the seasoned Inspector Manowsky. The remaining evidence leads the police to Tim and Hotte's old apartment, where a film revealing the group's involvement in the bomb-making lurks ominously. Faced with the prospect of their past catching up to them, Tim and Hotte scramble to reunite their former comrades. As they come together once again, they must confront not only the looming threat of jail but also the unresolved tensions that led to their separation. "What to Do in Case of Fire?" is a poignant and humorous exploration of friendship, ideological convictions, and the passage of time, underlined by a question that resonates throughout - how far would you go to protect your past?
