Fresh from the academic rigors of London, Shakti Thakur, alongside his stunning girlfriend, Anita, returns to his roots in a quaint Indian town. Shakti's ambition to marry Anita, much to his family's dismay, is a thread of discord in an otherwise harmonious setting. The unchanged town, with its feuding Zamindars - his father, Raja Thakur, and his disabled uncle, Birju, begins to suffocate Shakti, who yearns for the cosmopolitan life he left behind.
