In the bustling heart of Chicago, Dorothy Bryant along with her vibrant troupe of Melody Maids - Wanda, Jackie, and Babe - find their music fading into silence as they face an abrupt suspension of their show due to a lack of cash. However, when an unexpected inheritance of a ranch in Utah lands in Dorothy's lap, she sees it as a golden opportunity to revive their music. Along with the Maids and Stella Mason, their diligent wardrobe woman, Dorothy heads west to sell the ranch, hoping to raise the necessary funds. Meanwhile, in the rugged landscapes of Utah, Roy Rogers stands as the steadfast manager of the Bar X ranch for the absent Dorothy, with the harmonious Sons of the Pioneers as his reliable ranch hands. The Bar X, a prosperous and well-equipped property, stands in stark contrast to the dilapidated ranch of Roy's friend, Gabby Whittaker. When a conniving cattle broker, Ben Bowman, approaches Roy with a scheme to cheat Dorothy out of her ranch, Roy stands his ground, leading to a heated confrontation. As Dorothy and her entourage arrive, Roy is distressed to learn of her plans to sell the profitable Bar X. In a desperate attempt to dissuade her, he and his companions deceive her into believing that Gabby's ramshackle ranch is the valuable Bar X. However, this ruse quickly spirals out of control when Bowman and his henchman, Steve Lacey, exploit it for their own gain. While Roy and his comrades are busy preparing a warm welcome for Dorothy at the real Bar X, she is duped into selling what she believes to be her worthless ranch to Bowman. With the real Bar X sold at a price far below its actual value, Dorothy and her Maids return to Chicago, oblivious to the deception. Determined to right the wrong, Roy and his men embark on a journey to the Windy City. The plot culminates in an explosive showdown at the Chicago stockyards, a battleground where they confront the swindlers who have deceitfully shipped Dorothy's cattle for sale.
