Plot

In the captivating ninth installment of her ten-part saga, the vivacious and street-smart Maisie Ravier (Ann Sothern) trades her vaudeville sparkle for the modest sheen of a businesswoman. Graduating at the top of her class, she ditches the glamor of stage life, opting instead for the stability of an office job. Under a demure disguise to keep the wolves at bay, she lands a position as secretary to the innovative Joseph Morton (George Murphy). Morton, a war vet, is the genius behind a game-changing, automated helicopter, with the project's funding coming from the powerful J.G. Nuboult Enterprises. As Maisie brings her wartime experience in aircraft plants into play, their professional partnership flourishes into a personal bond. Little do they know, the success of their secret project hangs precariously in the balance as treacherous forces conspire to steal Morton's blueprint-less designs. At the heart of this corporate espionage is Barbara Nuboult, the tycoon's ambitious daughter. She has her sights set on pilfering Morton's secrets, weaponizing an inside source to outmaneuver and outbuild him. As her scheme unfolds, it threatens to shatter not only Morton's business ambitions but also the budding romance between him and Maisie. In a riveting twist, it falls to Maisie to uncover Barbara's plot and save their venture. The climax sees her courageously piloting the state-of-the-art helicopter through the bustling streets of downtown Los Angeles, culminating in a daring landing in the Pasadena Rose Bowl. The stakes have never been higher for Maisie as she navigates the turbulent skies of business intrigue and romance in "Up Goes Maisie."
