Until Death (2007)

In the shadowy underbelly of New Orleans, the story of Anthony Stowe unfolds, a hard-nosed detective ensnared by the chilling grip of heroin. Stowe, a tarnished badge in the police force, is a man consumed by addiction and drowning in alcohol, loathed by his colleagues, and trapped in a crumbling marriage with his wife Valerie, who carries a child that isn't his. His life seems to be a relentless storm of despair, worsened by the botched arrest of his former partner turned drug lord, Gabriel Callaghan. In this failed operation, two undercover officers meet their demise, while the drugs, the money, and the incriminating tapes disappear into the murky abyss of the criminal world. The already tarnished Stowe is left teetering on the brink of catastrophe, his life spiraling out of control like a ship caught in a violent storm. In a fated confrontation, Stowe is shot in the head, yet he cheats death in an almost miraculous fashion. As his body succumbs to the trauma, he falls into a deep coma. Now on a tumultuous path of recovery, Stowe finds himself in a personal war. He is determined to mend the broken ties with his estranged wife, who has been kidnapped, and to exact revenge on his assailant.
