Sam manages to find secret messages and hidden conspiracies in practically everything he encounters, but he's struggling to keep a job and make ends meet. A brief hookup with neighbor Sarah sparks his curiosity when she disappears from her apartment the very next day. Curious, Sam sets out in search of her. But as he starts to investigate the mystery, he stumbles across what seems to be a very real and very convoluted mystery. As Sam comes into contact with increasingly eccentric and increasingly dangerous personalities, he gets to know a side of Los Angeles that he's never experienced before.
