Plot

Barcelona, 1913, the city is a vibrant tapestry of modernism and antiquity. Amidst its bustling streets resides Alma, a woman who epitomizes the era's progressive spirit. She's a forward-thinking damsel, married to Dr. Leon Pardo, a renowned psychiatrist and a recent disciple of the revolutionary Dr. Sigmund Freud and his avant-garde theories on hysteria and sexuality. Dr. Pardo, deeply inspired by Freud's teachings, is suddenly reduced to a weeping figure, leaving Alma on the verge of motherhood with nothing but a cryptic farewell. In the wake of this emotional turmoil, Salvador, Alma's brother-in-law and a psychiatrist of a more conservative persuasion, steps forward from the shadows. His love for Alma, a secret he's long harbored, now becomes a beacon in their search for the missing Leon. Their only lead is a mystifying manuscript, a Freudian scripture of sorts, based on four female patients: an actress ensnared by a persecution complex, a psychotic woman with murderous tendencies, a lady grappling with her sexual identity, and a stranger tormented by a terrible secret from her past. This leads Alma and Salvador on an adventure reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes, a thrilling journey through the labyrinth of human psyche, teetering on the edge of societal taboos. Danger, hypnosis, and forbidden love intertwine as they delve deeper into the mysteries of hysteria and female sexuality, all in their quest to find the missing Dr. Leon Pardo. Unconscious is a cinematic exploration of love, loss and the human mind, set against the backdrop of a city on the cusp of a new era.
