Plot

In the heart of the 1980s, two audacious climbers, Joe Simpson and Simon Yates, set their sights on a never before conquered challenge - the treacherous west face of the Siula Grande in the Peruvian Andes. The duo, young, vigorous, and exceptionally skilled, embark on this thrilling expedition against the seemingly invincible mountain. Over three and a half grueling days, they push their bodies to the limit, finally standing victorious atop the peak that had eluded all climbers before them. But the celebration is short-lived as disaster rapidly ensues. A seemingly minor stumble culminates in multiple broken bones for Simpson, transforming their victorious descent into a perilous survival mission. Stranded miles above the ground with no hope of rescue, the pair opt for a daring strategy - an arduous, potentially lethal process of Yates lowering his crippled companion 300 feet at a time. The tension escalates when a fatal error forces Yates to make an unthinkable decision, severing the rope that binds them, sending Simpson plummeting into a chilling crevasse. Presuming his partner dead, Yates continues the descent alone, haunted by his decision. But Simpson, having miraculously survived the fall, now faces a herculean task - a solo descent from the icy jaws of death. In "Touching the Void," this harrowing tale of survival and resilience is revisited as Yates and Simpson return to the Siula Grande for the first time since the ordeal. Their story, a testament to the unyielding human spirit, will astound, inspire and leave you on the edge of your seat.
