Plot

Alim, an Indo-Canadian man, has carved out a vibrant existence for himself, far from the rigid confines of his Toronto upbringing. He now thrives in the pulsating heart of London, England, where he enjoys the freedom to express his homosexuality openly, a fact unbeknownst to his widowed mother, Nuru. Back in Toronto, Nuru and her competitive sister Dolly are consumed by maintaining the façade of a flawless public Muslim persona, the cornerstone of their lives. Alim's colourful London world is shared by his loving British boyfriend, Giles, and the spectral confidante he has fashioned out of the spirit of 'Cary Grant', guiding him through the complexities of his life. However, Alim's carefully constructed world begins to wobble when his mother, feeling the absence of a daughter-in-law and spurred by her sister Dolly's preparation for her son's 'perfect' wedding, decides to reconnect with her distant son. Desperate to preserve his secret and his relationship with Giles, Alim conceals all traces of his homosexual lifestyle as Nuru descends upon London. The ensuing visit becomes a test of endurance for Giles and a journey of self-discovery for both Alim and Nuru. As layers of deception and pretence peel away, Alim is caught in a whirlwind of familial duty, love, and his genuine identity. The truth begins to seep out, forcing both mother and son to reevaluate what truly matters in their lives. "Touch of Pink" is a compelling exploration of love, tradition, and the courage to embrace one's true self.
