Plot

In the quiet embrace of suburbia, high school prodigy Todd Bowden stumbles upon an ominous secret hiding in plain sight. His elderly neighbor, living under the unassuming guise of Arthur Denker, is in truth Kurt Dussander, a notorious Nazi war criminal. Todd, ensnared by the chilling allure of history's darkest epoch, brokers a sinister pact with Dussander. In exchange for his silence, the old man must paint a visceral narrative of his experiences during the Holocaust. As Todd delves deeper into Dussander's haunting tales, he becomes an 'apt pupil' of the horrifying past, his persona subtly shifting under the weight of the atrocities he's been privy to. Their relationship spirals into an uncanny dance of loathing and camaraderie, reaching a fever pitch when Todd assists Dussander in concealing a brutal murder. "Apt Pupil" is a chilling exploration of the human fascination with evil, revealing the monstrous potential lurking within the most unassuming of us. The film charts the disturbing journey of a curious boy and a repentant monster who form a pact that leads them down a path of unspeakable horror.
