Plot

Immersed in the world of American westerns, young Japanese man, No Ogawa, sees the world through a cowboy's lens. His passion for the West is so profound that his grasp of English is etched from the lines of these movies. Finding himself jobless after his stint at a fast food joint, No decides to embark on a journey to actualize his cowboy dreams. His sights are set on the Canadian prairies, where his childhood pen-pal, Kate Beatty, resides. Kate, who once claimed to be a cowgirl, becomes No's beacon of hope, a vision he yearns to ride off into the sunset with. However, reality strikes a harsh chord when he lands in Canada, only to find that Kate is not the cowgirl he imagined. Instead, she is an artist, having retreated to her hometown after a stint in the urban jungle, living a notably secluded life. Her mother, who is left in the dark about Kate's inner world, harbors hopes of a romantic union between No and Kate, even offering him shelter during his stay. But Kate is nestled within layers of secrets, the reasons for her isolation. These secrets, unbeknownst to her, aren't as concealed as she believes, especially from her mother. As No navigates this unfamiliar terrain, he finds an ally in Bill, a local postman. Bill, aware of No's romantic aspirations, steps into the role of No's protector, his aim to shield No from the heartache of unfulfilled dreams. Thus unfolds a tale of love, dreams, and the harsh realities that often collide with them.
