Tilva Ros (2011)

Set in Bor, Serbia, once lauded as the largest copper mine, now stands as Europe's grandest cavity. Under the shadow of this gaping void, the simmering tension of minor union protests brews. Amidst this unrest, we meet Toda and Stefan, inseparable friends and fearless skateboarders, navigating their maiden summer after high school. Stefan, bound for the University in Belgrade come fall, contrasts sharply with Toda who, even with means, wouldn't entertain the thought of academia. Their days are consumed creating daredevil videos reminiscent of 'Jackass', and vying for the attention of Dunja, a captivating returnee from France enjoying her holiday. This triangle of friendship, rivalry, and unspoken affection adds a layer of complexity to their relationships. However, the tranquil struggle for Dunja's attention is starkly juxtaposed by the escalating union protests. What begins as a small-scale demonstration spirals into an uncontrollable riot. Amidst the chaos, Toda and Stefan's rivalry evolves into a destructive bond, tethering them to one another in the face of adversity. 'Tilva Ros' intricately weaves the threads of friendship, rivalry, and love against a backdrop of societal upheaval, capturing the essence of youthful recklessness and the stark realities of adulthood.
