Plot

In the moody labyrinth of New Orleans, homicide detective Wes Block, played by the indomitable Clint Eastwood, navigates the intricate knots of his personal and professional life. Block, a divorced father, finds solace and strength in the special bond he shares with his two adolescent daughters, Amanda (Alison Eastwood) and Penny (Jenny Beck). Their world, however, is about to be shaken by an insidious threat looming in the city's underbelly. Block is assigned to a harrowing case, investigating a series of brutal murders plaguing the city's sex trade workers. Each victim, known or yet to be identified, suffers a grim fate - sexually assaulted before being strangled. A sinister signature is left at every crime scene: a fibre from a red ribbon, believed to be the murder weapon. With the escalating sexual violence and pattern emerging, it becomes clear that they are hunting a relentless serial killer. As the investigation intensifies, Beryl Thibodeaux (Geneviève Bujold), a steadfast Rape Services Counselor, inserts herself into the heart of the inquiry. Despite initial friction, a personal bond begins to form between Block and Thibodeaux, casting a ripple effect on the unfolding investigation. A chilling realization dawns upon Block as the case unravels. The victims are not random; they are individuals with whom Block has had contact, sometimes intimate. The lines between the hunter and the hunted begin to blur, and the killer starts to taunt Block, turning the investigation into a grotesque mirror reflecting Block's own life. The threat hits even closer to home when the safety of Amanda, Penny, and Beryl is jeopardized. In this twisted game of cat and mouse, Block must race against time. Solving the case is no longer just about justice; it becomes a personal vendetta. As the crimes appear to be a vendetta against him, Block must outwit a killer who seems to be one step ahead, casting a dark shadow over his life and those he holds dear.
