Tides of War (2005)

In the icy, forbidding depths off the coast of North Korea, a U.S. Navy high-speed attack submarine encounters a chilling catastrophe. It's ambushed and almost destroyed by a shadowy, undetectable enemy submarine, leading to the tragic deaths of the Executive Officer and the Engineering Officer. The vessel's captain, Commander Burt Habley, finds himself in the crosshairs of a stern Naval court-martial. However, fate intervenes as he's selected to spearhead a clandestine mission to tap into an underwater North Korean communications cable. As Habley grapples with the formidable task of safeguarding his submarine and crew from this ghostly adversary, he must also ensure the mission's success. Haunted by the unnerving feeling of being shadowed, he makes the daring move to steer the submarine into the vast open waters, luring the phantom submarine away from the U.S. fleet. This audacious act places him in direct conflict with his new, rule-abiding Executive Officer. In a tense twist of events, the Executive Officer, backed by the special missions team, wrests control of the submarine and steers it back on course, just as they come under attack again. This dangerous confrontation validates Habley's suspicions, unifying him and his crew in their resolve to vanquish this menacing foe before it can wreak havoc on them or the fleet.
