Three Days of the Condor (1975)

In the shadowy corridors of the Central Intelligence Agency, nestled within the nondescript facades of New York City, operates Section 17, masquerading as the American Literacy Historical Society. The quiet and seemingly unremarkable Joe Turner, known by the code name 'Condor,' is one of these covert operatives. His task? To pore over every piece of published material, searching for hidden messages planted by national security agencies of friend or foe. One ordinary day, Condor steps out for a lunch run, only to return to a horrifying tableau of death. His colleagues, all six of them including his girlfriend Janice Chon, have been brutally executed, their lifeless bodies scattered throughout the office. The seventh has been slain in his own home. With no knowledge of anyone beyond his immediate team, the mild-mannered researcher finds himself tangled in a web of distrust, doubting the very organization he works for. When a clumsy attempt is made to reel him in, Condor goes rogue, deciding to uncover the truth on his own. A young woman named Kathy Hale becomes an unexpected ally when Condor, out of desperation, kidnaps her. Frightened yet compelled by Condor's tale, Kathy decides to assist him in his harrowing quest. In this chilling game of cat and mouse, Condor finds himself relentlessly pursued by a tall man with an Alsatian accent and realizes that the brutal executions may be tied to his last report. As he races against time to unravel the conspiracy, Condor must evade the hitmen hot on his trail, and find a way back 'from the cold.'
