The Wings of the Dove (1997)

Born into a world of wealth and privilege, Kate Croy (Helena Bonham Carter) witnesses her mother relinquish their luxurious life to marry her penniless, opium-addicted father (Sir Michael Gambon), a man unashamed to admit his theft from his wife. Orphaned and impoverished after her mother's demise, Kate is offered a glimmering chance to reclaim the life of affluence her mother once abandoned.
