Plot

In the heart of the medieval era, we meet Ondrej, a youth with a peculiar affection for bees and bats. His life takes an unexpected turn when a woman, significantly younger than his father, steps into the role of his mother. A seemingly innocent gift of a basketful of flowers swiftly unravels into chaos as the woman uncovers bats secreted at the basket's base. Her shriek of surprise triggers a furious wrath in Ondrej's father, leading him to hurl his son against the wall in a fit of anger. As Ondrej lays paralyzed on the cold stone floor, a desperate promise is made by his father: to dedicate Ondrej's life to the Holy Virgin if she spares him. Miraculously, the boy survives, his life's path now set towards the austere discipline of a Knightly Order. Under the watchful tutelage of the pious monk, Armin, Ondrej grows within the confines of faith and duty. However, a day of extraordinary revelation causes Ondrej to question the Order's sanctity and rekindle memories of his past. As he teeters on the brink of doubt and remembrance, Ondrej's journey becomes a captivating exploration of faith, destiny, and the search for one's roots in the midst of life's tumultuous turns.
