In the heart of Montréal lives Leon Bronstein, a seventeen and three-quarter year old high school senior with a peculiar belief - he is convinced that he is the reincarnation of Leon Trotsky, the early 20th century Soviet iconoclast and Red Army hero. This conviction is no mere teenage whimsy; Leon's life events eerily mirror those of Trotsky's, leading him down a path of audacious emulation of his revolutionary predecessor. Leon's convictions are a constant source of exasperation for his businessman father, David Bronstein. In a world where Leon's reality is a hunger strike against his father's non-unionized business, David aims to teach him a lesson. As Leon navigates through the turbulent waters of his senior year, he crosses paths with Alexandra Leith, a twenty-seven year old doctoral law student. Drawing parallels from Trotsky's life, Leon becomes convinced that he is destined to marry Alexandra. This belief, however, is rooted in her perceived role in his life, rather than who she is as an individual.
