Plot

In the hushed dawn of the early 20th century, a tale of bravery, friendship, and whimsical magic unfolds. Nine-year-old Pete, an orphan sold for a mere $50 to the Gogans, a merciless and abusive foster family, musters the audacity to escape his grim reality. His loyal companion on this daring escape is none other than his secret friend, a bumbling yet endearing fire-breathing dragon named Elliott. Together they navigate their way to the tranquil port town of Passamaquoddy, Maine, a place seemingly untouched by time. In this sleepy hamlet, they stumble upon the heartwarming duo of Lampie, the jovial lighthouse-keeper, and his compassionate daughter Nora. Unfazed by Pete's peculiar circumstances, they welcome the runaway orphan into their modest lighthouse home. The respite is short-lived as the relentless Gogans, hellbent on reclaiming their lost charge, are hot on Pete's trail. However, a more sinister threat lurks in the shadows. The unscrupulous Dr. Terminus, a cunning charlatan, and his bumbling sidekick Hoagy, have set their sights on Elliott. Intrigued by the dragon's potential medical value, they concoct a nefarious scheme to capture him. Amidst swirling superstitions and mounting tension, Pete and Elliott must outwit their adversaries to ensure their freedom. Will Nora come to accept the truth of Pete's fantastical, green-hued guardian? Can Pete and Elliott evade the insidious clutches of both the wretched Gogans and the devious Dr. Terminus? "Pete's Dragon" is an enchanting tale of resilience and the extraordinary power of friendship that transcends the ordinary.
