Plot

In the heart of the Happy Soap Company, a family-owned business steered by the influential Fraleigh clan, a surprising twist of fate intertwines family patriarch Tom Fraleigh with a vivacious woman named Beverly Boyer. Beverly, the wife of his daughter-in-law's obstetrician, Dr. Gerald Boyer, captivates Tom with her enchanting personal anecdote about how Happy Soap remarkably "saved her life". This encounter occurs during a quaint dinner party, where her spontaneous charm and honesty bewitch Tom. Convinced of her allure, Tom sees Beverly as the perfect spokesperson for Happy Soap. Despite her initial self-doubt and the skepticism of Happy Soap's management and advertising team, Tom secures Beverly with an $80,000 contract. Herein begins Beverly's transformation from an everyday housewife to the radiant face of Happy Soap, as she repeats her lively story in recurring live television commercials sponsored by the company. However, this newfound fame doesn't come without a cost. As Beverly's star ascends, her professional commitments intensify, casting a shadow over her role as a mother and wife. This progress is met with resentment by her husband Gerald, who yearns for the traditional domestic life they once shared. The rising tension tests the strength of their marriage, leaving it teetering on the brink. Amidst this turmoil, only an unexpected intervention from Mrs. Fraleigh Jr. holds the potential to mend the fraying ties between the Boyers, highlighting the timeless struggle between personal ambition and family unity.
