Plot

In the bleak, desolate corner of a post-apocalyptic future, the sardonic cinematic parody, The Starving Games, unfolds. Our tenacious heroine, Kantmiss Evershot (Maiara Walsh), volunteers to brave the gauntlet in lieu of her cunning younger sister for the seventy-fifth annual 'Starving Games.' An event not just a grim fight for survival but a bizarre lottery where the prize is an aging ham, a discount coupon for a sub sandwich, and a half-devoured pickle. Abandoning her smoldering comrade, Dale (Brant Daugherty), Kantmiss forms an unlikely alliance with the nerdy offspring of a baker, Peter Malarkey (Cody Allen Christian). Together, they plunge into a struggle not just for existence but for the bizarre rewards that await the victor. The Starving Games, Friedberg and Seltzer's sixth venture into the realm of cinematic spoofs, takes a satirical aim at the blockbuster epic The Hunger Games. It weaves a tapestry of laughs, sprinkled with half the calories, while lobbing cock-eyed, barbed arrows at a parade of sci-fi, action, and fantasy films. From The Avengers to Oz the Great and Powerful, no pop culture icon or celebrity is safe, including the likes of Harry Potter and Taylor Swift. Prepare to enter a world where survival is as much about wits as it is about staying alive, where every step could be a punchline or a peril, and where the line between parody and tribute is as thin as the blade of a mocking jester. The Starving Games, where the stakes are high, the rewards are odd, and the laughs are plentiful.
