The Spikes Gang (1974)

In the untamed expanses of the Old West, three impressionable youths, Will, Les, and Tod, stumble upon an injured outlaw, Harry Spikes. Initially, fear grips them as they grapple with the potential consequences of their actions - punishment from the law, and worse, their parents. Yet, swayed by the desperado's heartfelt pleas, they choose to harbor him in the clandestine shelter of Will's barn, tending to his injuries and nurturing him back to health. In the subsequent days, the boys become Spikes' lifeline, providing him with sustenance, fresh clothes, and a sense of camaraderie. Even when the sheriff and his posse come knocking, Will cunningly conceals the bandit's presence, risking everything to protect their secret guest. After a significant recovery, Spikes, grateful for the boys' assistance, swears to repay their kindness, before disappearing towards the Mexican border on Will's horse. Upon the discovery of their son's audacious secret, Will's parents inflict a harsh punishment, pushing him to the brink. Emancipated from his oppressive home, Will bids farewell to Les and Tod, inspiring a shared thirst for adventure that leads them to abandon their own homes. Facing the harsh realities of their newfound freedom, the boys, starved and penniless, attempt a bank heist. However, their naive plan goes awry, forcing them to flee towards the Mexican border. Struggling to survive, they resort to menial jobs and petty theft, landing them in a grim Mexican prison. As they wallow in despair, their paths cross with Spikes once more, who rescues them and offers them an opportunity they can't refuse - to join him in a life of crime. United, they form a formidable gang, with Spikes at the helm, ready to carve their own destiny.
