The Silenced (2015)

In the haunting year of 1938, Korea teems with mystery and suspense at Gyeongseong Boarding School, a seemingly ordinary institution for ailing girls. Our protagonist, the delicate and sickly Joo-ran, is uprooted from her life by her aloof father and disinterested stepmother, only to be replanted in the unfamiliar terrain of this boarding school. Here, she is renamed Shizuko, a moniker that carries an eerie echo from the past. Joo-ran, now Shizuko, initially finds the school life no different from any other boarding school. However, as the days pass, she uncovers the unsettling tale of the original Shizuko who mysteriously vanished without any farewell to her companions. This unsettling event is not an isolated incident, as more girls, under strange circumstances, begin to fade away from the school, their disappearances shrouded in an unnerving silence. Driven by an insatiable curiosity and a growing sense of unease, Shizuko embarks on a perilous quest to unearth the chilling secrets that lie beneath the veneer of the Gyeongseong School. As she delves deeper into the school's enigmatic past, her life teeters dangerously on the edge.
