Emerging from the bleak confines of a Siberian labor camp after twenty long years, Ukrainian Archbishop Kiril Lakota, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Lvov, tastes freedom once more. The young and troubled Father David Telemond, who becomes Lakota's unlikely confidant, escorts him to Rome.
