Plot

In the heart of World War II, March 1943, the neutral port of Mormugoa, a Portuguese colony, becomes an unwitting accomplice to the German's deadly game. The Germans exploit this neutrality to broadcast crucial information about Allied ships to a lurking U-Boat, their intention: to blitz these ships in international waters. Across the continent in Calcutta, the British Intelligence, spurred into action, assigns the seasoned Colonel Lewis Pugh (Gregory Peck) and the audacious Captain Gavin Stewart (Sir Roger Moore) to infiltrate Goa. Their mission: to discover the source of the German's intelligence and neutralize it. Their investigation reveals the presence of three German vessels anchored inconspicuously and the infamous spy, Trompeta (Wolf Kahler) embedded within the colony. In an ill-fated attempt to extract information, the duo kidnaps Trompeta, only for things to go awry, resulting in the spy's accidental death in a runaway car. Amidst the chaos, Gavin finds himself ensnared in a fleeting romance with the enigmatic Mrs. Cromwell (Barbara Kellerman), Trompeta's unsuspecting partner. Their mission in disarray, Colonel Pugh and Captain Stewart, against the odds, manage to persuade their superiors to bring the retired soldiers from the Calcutta Light Horse regiment led by the gallant Colonel W.H. Grice (David Niven) back into action. Under the guise of boisterous businessmen on a pleasure trip aboard the old ship Phoebe, these veterans set sail for Goa, armed with a daring plan to obliterate the Ehrenfels and the two other Nazi radio ships, effectively silencing the German's maritime intelligence. While Colonel Pugh and his men prepare for their daring maritime assault, on the shores of Goa, the love-struck Gavin crafts a diversion, his romantic entanglement with Mrs. Cromwell serving as a smokescreen. The suspense builds as these retired officers of the Calcutta Light Horse, drawn back into the tumult of war, brace themselves for a mission that could change the tide of World War II. This thrilling tale, based on true events, stars Trevor Howard, Sir Roger Moore, David Niven, and Gregory Peck.
