Plot

Against the backdrop of salt spray and the sun-kissed coastline, a group of five college comrades reunite at a tranquil beach house, drawn together by the impending nuptials of the affluent Lila Hayes and the charming Tom McDevon. As the strains of wedding bells reverberate around the shore, a tapestry of latent emotions and hidden passions begins to unfurl. Lila's maid of honor, Laura Rosen, once a college roommate of the bride-to-be, harbors a secret longing for Tom, her ex-lover. Unresolved feelings simmer beneath the surface, threatening to disturb the tranquil sea of the wedding preparation. Tom, caught in the tumultuous tide between past and present, finds himself questioning his marital voyage with Lila. As the eve of the wedding descends, a rehearsal dinner drenched in alcohol sparks the rekindling of Laura and Tom's love, casting long shadows on the dawn of the wedding day. Amidst the whirlpool of old flames, lingering doubts, and the stark absence of matrimonial role models, Lila finds herself staring into a labyrinth of uncertainties. Laced with unsteady friendships and the haunting specter of Laura and Tom's past relationship, Lila must grapple with the decision of whether or not to walk down the aisle. "The Romantics" weaves a tangled narrative of love, friendship, and wavering loyalties, ensuring that the journey to 'I do' is anything but a smooth sail.
