The Prowler (1981)

In the sultry summer night of June 28, 1945, the tranquil town of Avalon Bay echoes with the jubilant sounds of a Graduation Ball. But the revelry is abruptly silenced as a courting couple, Roy and Francis Rosemary Chatham, meet their grisly end at the hands of an unseen assailant, their lives stolen with the brutal plunge of a rake. The perpetrator vanishes into the night, leaving the mystery of their identity unsolved. Fast forward to June 28, 1980, where the echoes of the past resurface. The resilient student, Pam MacDonald, dares to challenge the morose silence that has enveloped Avalon Bay for thirty-five years, organizing a new Graduation Dance. This bold act defies the ban imposed by the ailing Major Chatham, forever haunted by the loss of his daughter, confined to the melancholic solace of his wheelchair. As the festivity approaches, the local sheriff, George Fraser, departs on an ill-timed fishing excursion, leaving his deputy, Mark London, to safeguard the town.
